COST ANALYST

POSITION SUMMARY/PURPOSE:

Implement and maintain effective cost accounting processes, systems and reporting applications. Oversee and influence purchasing, operations, inventory, capital investments, accounts payable and supporting functions.

POSITIONACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Prepare monthly analysis and reports. Analyze monthly production and inventory variances. Verify accuracy of perpetual inventory valuation and reports. Recommend and implement changes to ensure accuracy and to improve financial performance.
  • Maintain the standard cost system.
  • Complete monthly journal entries and account reconciliations for inventory, accounts payable, fixed assets and miscellaneous accounts payable. Provide explanations and documentation for variances.
  • Maintain fixed asset ledger, including updating the database for additions and disposals. Coordinate and perform periodic fixed asset verification.
  • Implement periodic review procedures to ensure machine and aftermarket margins are reasonable based on price and cost. Review bill of materials with appropriate departments updated costs as required. Review Engineering Change notices on a daily basis.
  • Ensure internal control environment and procedures over inventory and expenditures are appropriate. Ensure processes and transactions ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Review ERP configuration and business rules for inventory costing and expenditures. Investigate and implement new processes or system functionality as necessary.
  • Assist with the periodic forecasting and annual budget process. Assist with annual audit as directed. Prepare ad hoc reporting requests as directed by management.
  • Serve as a backup to processing payroll for hourly employees for both Mokena and Whitewater facilities, work with employees and managers on any discrepancies noted.
  • Accomplish work in an organized, timely manner producing necessary results in spite of unforeseen changes; communicate effectively and alert team members and supervision if deadlines are in jeopardy; maintain high ethical and quality standards; and correct your own errors; and, regularly produce accurate, thorough, professional work.
  • Additionally, recommend continuous improvement ideas and assist in implementation as required; take personal responsibility for service excellence, sustainability and safe working practices; and, understand and adhere to our Principles & Values and all company policies and procedures.

JOB KNOWLEDGE/SKILLSAND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of accounting for inventory transactions; general knowledge of accounting rules and regulations.
  • Good analytical, communication leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Team player orientation.
  • Adapts quickly to changes in priorities, receptive to additional responsibilities, and ability to meet deadlines required.
  • Proficient with ERP systems; PeopleSoft experience a plus.
  • Proficient with Microsoft office, specifically Excel.

PROFESSIONAL WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Three to five years of Accounting/Finance or related business experience is required.

EDUCATIONAL AND/OR TRAINING REQUIREMENT:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor s degree in Accounting or Finance.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT:

  • CPA or CMA preferred.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
